Since the beginning of 2009, California remains the most heavily hit state in the real estate slowdown. Prices continue to plummet, foreclosures are rampant, and the television newscasters are interviewing homeless gatherings of tent residents. So many have lost their homes from the ARM mortgages that one wonders if the industry will ever recover. California luxury home sales plunged last year to their lowest level in five years.
On the other hand, the foreclosures in California represent a unique opportunity never offered to investors before. As always, those that have the most money can benefit from the mistakes of others. California real estate is the most expensive in the nation, and when times improve, the ones who can buy up the bargains now will have it made.
